Woman and dog killed after being hit by car
A woman and a dog have been killed after being hit by a car in Birmingham on Monday morning.
The 20-year-old woman was walking the dog when she was struck by the vehicle on West Boulevard in Quinton just before 08:45 BST.
She was found in a critical condition and was confirmed dead at the scene, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
The crash happened between Barnes Hill and Quinton Road West, according to West Midlands Police which added the force was keen to hear from anyone who could assist the investigation.
A spokesperson for the force said: "A 20-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was confirmed dead a short time later. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this devastating time.
"A dog she was walking at the time was also injured and sadly died.
"The driver remained at the scene and is currently helping with our inquiries."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Bystanders were providing basic life support and ambulance crews immediately took over to administer advanced life support.
"Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, she could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene."
