Driver arrested after death of motorcyclist
A motorist has been arrested following a crash that killed a motorcyclist.
North Yorkshire Police said the crash, which happened at approximately 14:50 BST on Monday, involved a white Renault Clio and a grey Kawasaki ZR motorcycle.
The vehicles had been travelling in opposite directions along the B1222, when they collided near Sherburn-in Elmet.
The motorcyclist, a 65-year-old man local to the area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the Renault, a man in his 20s, had been arrested at the scene of the crash.
He has since been released under investigation.
A third vehicle, a black Keeway Superlight motorcycle, was caught up in the aftermath of the crash, however police confirmed the rider was uninjured.
The road reopened at around 02:00 BST on Tuesday, following investigation work.
Police have asked witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
