Stretch of A27 to close for eight weeks
A stretch of the A27 in West Sussex will be closed for about eight weeks while a resurfacing project is carried out.
The works between Fontwell and Arundel will aim to maintain road safety and reduce the need for unplanned closures, Barnham and Eastergate Parish Council said.
It will begin on 15 January and is expected to take up to eight weeks to complete.
The work will take place on weeknights between 20:00 GMT and 06:00.
The first phase of the work will include the closure of the A27 eastbound between the Fontwell East and Ford roundabouts for two weeks from 15 January.
A signed diversion will be in place via the A29 and A284.
“We’ll then start our work on the dual carriageway, but when we get to the single lane section between the junction with Long Lane and the Ford Roundabout, we’ll need to fully close the road in both directions,” a council spokesman said.
“Once this section is complete, we’ll move to the westbound dual carriageway.”
The project is also subject to weather conditions.
