Man arrested over 'sex attack' on 70-year-old

A man has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault on a 70-year-old woman in Bearsden.

The woman was walking near Colquhoun Park about 17:15 on 22 March when a man reportedly pushed her to the ground, assaulted and sexually assaulted her.

Police Scotland said a 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He will appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court later.

The arrest follows a public appeal by the police for information.

The woman was left extremely distressed by the alleged attack but did not require hospital treatment.
