Van Gogh musical premieres in Eastbourne
A musical created by a Sussex-based team is to premiere in Eastbourne.
Tony Norman and Mark Edwards' Vagabond Skies - The Van Gogh Musical will run at the Devonshire Park Theatre from 12-14 September.
The new musical charts the dramatic life of the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh.
“Vagabond Skies took a long time to complete,” said Mr Norman on the show's website. “When writing about the world’s best loved painter, you must be sure you’re telling his story as honestly as you can.”
The musical is centred on the relationship between Van Gogh and his art dealer brother Theo, who supported and financially sponsored his career for years.
Letters exchanged by the pair have been used to create the script and Van Gogh's artwork will feature on stage.
Directed by Sarah Dormady, the cast is led by Richard Lock as Vincent Van Gogh and Richard Dawes as Theo Van Gogh.
