Bakery's bread nativity scene making people smile
A town bakery has gone viral after recreating the nativity using loaves of bread.
Hobbs House Bakery's Nailsworth shop, in Gloucestershire, has arranged sourdough loaves for the three kings and Mary and Joseph, while baby Jesus is made out of a baguette in a rye loaf manger.
Anna Herbert from the bakery said they have varnished the display, which they called Breadlehem, to ensure it lasts until Christmas.
"People seem to be loving it, so it's been fantastic to see a lot of great comments and involvement from the community," Ms Herbert said.
Ms Herbert credited the need for "something quite light-hearted and fun" with the scene's success.
"It seems that people are into Christmas quite early, we've sold a lot of mince pies already.
"The way they're made from a stubby, rounded loaf... they're definitely friendly-looking," she told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
A photograph of the display has been shared thousands of times on social media, with fans saying the Christmas scene is "very appropriate" as Bethlehem translates to "house of bread".
"It's a little bit of an artform," Ms Herbert added. "It's not as simple as it looks."
