Cycle hub next to city shopping centre relocates

A Derby cycle hub with 26 indoor spaces for bikes, repair and pump stations, and lockers for helmets and belongings has relocated.

Derbion said the base had officially reopened at a new space in East Street, outside the shopping centre, after moving from London Road.

The shopping centre says the hub has helped make more than 24,000 cycle journeys possible since opening in 2022.

Max Wilson, founder of Spokesafe, which works with Derbion on the hub, said: "We're looking forward to this iteration of the hub, helping even more of the community cycle more often."

The hub aims to encourage more people to travel by bike by offering safe bicycle storage accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Beth McDonald, managing director of Derbion, which also works with Derby City Council and cycling campaign group Spoke Out on providing the hub, said: "The cycle hub has had a great impact since it opened in 2022, so we're thrilled that it has opened the doors to its new location at Derbion."
