A man has died after the car he was driving veered on to the opposite side of the road and hit another vehicle.

The red Seat Arona was travelling on the A637 Bar Lane towards Midgley, near Wakefield, at about 12:30 GMT on Saturday, when it struck a black BMW travelling in the opposite direction, West Yorkshire Police said.

The 85-year-old driver of the Seat died at the scene. The BMW driver was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Officers have asked anyone with information to get in touch.
