Joint investigation after man dies in bungalow fire

An investigation has been launched after a man in his 70s died in a bungalow fire.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Hawtrey Gardens in Alvaston, Derby, shortly after 19:20 GMT on Wednesday.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus found the body of the man inside the property.

A police and fire investigation is under way but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

The fire service said the man's family had been informed.

A spokesperson added: "Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to extend the thoughts and sympathy of everyone in the service to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time."
