Grubby road signs to be given 'glow-up'

Dirty road signs will soon be hosed down in an effort to improve the appearance of a district.

Signs across West Berkshire that were most in need of a scrub would be prioritised, according to the council.

The authority, which is responsible for ensuring signs are clear and visible to road-users, admitted some had become "a bit grubby".

Funding for the additional cleaning will be allocated from the council's annual budget.

The authority said it hoped the enhanced maintenance programme would "improve the overall appeal" of the community.

Stuart Gourley, the council's member for the environment, added: "Residents have told us that they'd like to see some of our grubbiest road signs given a glow-up and I look forward to seeing the difference this work will make."
