Forty-five public parking spaces at an airport are set to be re-designated for private use.

The change would see spaces open to those using the Isle of Man Airport reduce from 595 to 545, with a split of 162 premium and 383 standard spaces.

In July 2023, changes to parking at the airport that included a price-hike, along with a reduction in the amount of time free parking was available came into effect.

The Department of Infrastructure said the move was "aimed at accommodating the growing demand for car rentals and valet services".

Taking into account passenger volumes, capacity remained "more than sufficient", but "contingency areas" were available to address an increase in demand, the department said.

It was hoped the changes would come into effect "early next year" depending on feedback and approval, it added.

When an overhaul of the parking arrangements was carried out in 2023, the car park was split into premium and standard areas, with the reduction in spaces set to come from the standard parking zone.
