New homes to be built on former golf course
Council planners have given the green light for more homes to be built on a former golf course in Leicestershire.
Cameron Homes wants to demolish the golf store building - part of Breedon Priory Golf Club - in order to construct a further six homes off Ashby Road in Breedon on the Hill.
The course closed in January 2023 and 52 homes have already been built on parts of the site, with the remaining area being returned to agricultural use.
North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) said it did not believe the plans would have “any significantly detrimental impacts” for the area.
The store is the last remaining link to the former club, but the developer branded it "unattractive", the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The application had some opposition from residents.
One said the homes would bring no "benefit to the village" and would be "detrimental to the environmental quality" to the area.
But planning officers at NWLDC said there was "no material planning considerations that indicate planning permission should not be granted" and the proposal was "considered acceptable".
