A man has been charged with murder after another man died following a town centre fight.

Police were called to reports of an altercation involving four people in Newmarket High Street at 15:30 GMT on Saturday 8 March.

Two men were taken to hospital and one of them, aged 71, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge on Tuesday.

Levi Williams, 25, of Holland Park, Newmarket, has been charged with murder.

He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday.

A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of affray both remain on police bail.
