A woman and two children have been hit by a lorry in an alleged hit-and-run in a city, police said.

It happened at the junction of Forster Street and Tower Square in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent at about 12:10 BST on Friday.

One of the children, a young boy, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and taken to hospital as a precaution, Staffordshire Police said.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed the driver of the lorry did not stay at the scene and a cordon was put in place while officers made inquiries.
