A section of road leading to one of the Isle of Man's busiest junctions is set to close for repair works.

Part of New Castletown Road, between Quarterbridge roundabout and the entrance to the National Sports Centre track, will be closed on Wednesday from 18:00 BST until midnight.

The works were postponed on Tuesday due to adverse weather, the Department of Infrastructure (DoI) said.

New Castletown Road and Central Douglas traffic will be diverted via Groves Road and Pulrose Bridge, while vehicles travelling west should use Saddle Road and Braddan Bridge.

'Minimise impact'

A temporary one-way restriction on Braddan Bridge for patching works will be postponed by 24 hours, meaning that it will now be in force from 18:30 BST on Thursday until 08:00 on Friday.

Parts of Quarterbridge Road will also be closed between those times for patching works.

It will be shut between the junctions with Selbourne Drive and Peel Road at the Quarterbridge Roundabout, as well as Alexander Drive between the Albany Road and Quarterbridge Road junctions.

Several diversions will be signposted throughout the roadworks.

The Department of Infrastructure said the works were being carried out during the evening to "minimise their impact on the travelling public".
