While children across the land were excitedly cracking open chocolate eggs this Easter, two more little ones of the feathered variety were busy breaking out of theirs.

The team that monitors peregrine falcons nesting at the top of Derby Cathedral say two of this year's four eggs hatched over the weekend.

Their arrival was spotted by avid watchers of a webcam trained on their nest, part of a partnership between Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Derby Cathedral and the city council which launched in 2006.

In a social media post, the cathedral described it as "a lovely Easter present" and said the other two eggs should also be hatching soon.
