An inspection to assess the state of a fire-gutted village shop is due to take place.

The blaze broke out at the premises on Main Street in Gosforth, near Seascale, Cumbria, on Thursday morning.

At its height, 10 appliances were in attendance, with some remaining at the scene overnight damping down.

The street is still closed to traffic and pedestrians are advised to be cautious while in the area.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said everyone in the building was accounted for.

Area manager Lauren Woodward said: "I would like to thank all those who responded and worked to contain and tackle the fire.

"I would also like to thank the local community who supported [the service] with welfare provisions, and the employers and families of our on-call crews who were engaged in this incident for a number of hours."

Meanwhile a crowdfunding appeal for the two families affected has raised more than £13,000.
