New Year's Eve weather warning for NI
A weather warning for strong wind has been issued across Northern Ireland for New Year's Eve.
Strong westerly winds on Tuesday could bring gusts up to 50mph (80km/h) across many areas, with stronger winds for exposed areas.
A Met Office yellow warning has been issued from 06:00 GMT on New Year's Eve until 14:00.
The windy conditions could cause transport disruption, power outages, and impacts along coastal areas due to large waves.
Belfast City Airport said there may be some disruption to flights but passengers are advised to check the status of their flight.
NI's Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs said travel delays, spray or large waves at coasts, fallen trees, and power cuts are possible and has a list of advice and emergency numbers on the NI Direct website.
It comes as Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled due to the weather, with areas of low pressure to bring unsettled conditions more widely across the UK on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Will there be snow?
As temperatures fall close to freezing, there may be some snow across parts of Northern Ireland on New Year's Day.
The Met Office had issued a yellow warning for snow in Northern Ireland from 07:00 GMT on New Year's Day until midnight, but this has now been cancelled.
In the Republic of Ireland, weather warnings for strong winds have been issued for three counties on Tuesday.
Irish weather service Met Éireann is warning of difficult driving conditions for Donegal, Mayo, and Galway.
"The low moving over on Tuesday will bring significant winds to the northwest but rain will be widespread and rather heavy at times too," said Met Éireann's Mark Bowe.
