Turning down the application, planners said two other masts were already located very close to the proposed site

A plan for a 66ft (20m) tall phone mast to be constructed just yards from two other masts have been turned down.

If given the go-ahead, the structure would have stood along with three equipment cabinets on Whetley Hill in Bradford, near the junction with Arthington Street.

In its planning application, Cornerstone Telecommunications stated the new mast would "balance operational need with planning policies", adding that it would "deliver public benefit in terms of the mobile services it will provide".

However, rejecting the application, Bradford Council planners said the addition of a new mast so close to two others "would result in a cluttered and overcrowded environment".

They added that it would "harm the visual amenity of the wider street scene", according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
