Man charged over death and attempted murder at flat

A man has been charged over the discovery of a body at a block of flats in North Ayrshire.

A 59-year-old man was found dead after police were called to reports of a disturbance in the Montgomerie Street area of Ardrossan at about 20:30 on Tuesday.

Police have confirmed a 40-year-old man has been charged over the death and the attempted murder of a woman found injured outside the building.

He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday.
