Drivers in Lincoln are being warned of overnight road closures to take place over the next two weeks.

Work is ongoing to improve the eastern access to Tritton Road, which began on 22 April, for new housing development Charterholme.

The City of Lincoln Council said contractors would be working overnight to install new traffic lights at the junction between Tritton Road and Dixon Street to ensure the Charterholme eastern access project remained on schedule for completion in August.

Roads will also be closed between 20:00 BST and 06:00 BST from Monday until Thursday and also on 27 and 28 May for resurfacing work.

A new footpath along Tritton Road is open to the public and the construction of a new bridge over the railway is under way.

Temporary traffic lights and a minor diversion will be in place during the work, the council has said.

Maria Clayton, of City of Lincoln Council, said the overnight closures would "keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible throughout the project".

"The council and our contractors appreciate the continued support from residents and businesses during this time," Ms Clayton added.
