Stolen goalposts fund reaches target in 12 hours
Poets' Corner FCA children's football club says it is "blown away" by the support of the community, after thieves stole its goalposts.
Poets' Corner FC in Hove, East Sussex, had 16 aluminium goal posts taken from its lock-up in Wish Park.
The club launched a crowd funding campaign to raise £3,000 to replace the equipment, which is used by more than 150 children.
On Monday the club said £4,000 had been raised in the space of 12 hours.
The club said: "From parents to rival clubs and total strangers, the response has 100% restored our faith that good prevails.
"With this incredible reaction from the local community we can now move on with quickly replacing the stolen goalposts and limit the effect on our boys and girls.
"As a non-profit club run entirely by volunteers, this theft has sickened us, and our attention now turns to working with those who have information to catch the thieves... as well as ensuring this doesn't happen again."
