Teens charged with selling weapons on social media

Two teenagers accused of selling weapons on social media have been remanded in custody.

The 16-year-old boys, from Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire, were arrested by Merseyside Police on Thursday after cash, extendable batons, machetes, swords, flick knives and a knuckle duster were seized.

Appearing at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Friday, the pair were remanded on condition of bail and will appear at Worcester Magistrates' Court on 23 October.

The raids were led by Merseyside Police, alongside West Mercia Police.

They are part of a national operation to target county lines drug dealing and exploitation.

Det Sgt Kieran Connolly, from Merseyside Police's Project Medusa team, said: "We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, whether selling knives, carrying them or using them."
