Police investigating murder reveal name of victim

Murder inquiry detectives investigating a reported shooting have identified the victim.

A man was pronounced dead shortly after shots were heard in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire at about 00:33 BST on 17 September.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, police said: "The man can now be named as 30-year-old Mustapha Jatta."

Police believe it was linked to the discovery of a white Volkswagen Golf on fire in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley, at about 00:45 BST. Officers have made a fresh appeal for information.

Det Insp Dale Mepstead, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the surrounding areas prior to or after the incident to please contact us.

"If you have a dashcam fitted, I’d encourage you to please check your footage as you may have captured something that could assist with our investigation.

“It is now a week since Mustapha sadly lost his life, and our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time."
