Three Wiltshire businesses have been announced as recipients of the King's Enterprise Award, with 197 across the country.

All three have been recognised for international trade - for condiments, nuts and bolts for aerospace, and recycling bins.

The companies have had to keep the news secret since the beginning of April until the announcement on 6 May.

Guy Tullberg from Tracklements near Malmesbury said: "You don't get these things lightly - whatever business gets the King's award has done really, really well."

The company makes condiments and sauces - everything from ketchup to chutney and chilli jam - and can be spotted in many local shops.

However, many buying in Wiltshire might not know the locally-made foodstuff is sold across the world, including in the US, Australia and UAE.

Managing director Mr Tullberg explained they did not put a UK flag on the front of the jar, but made sure the branding was the same everywhere.

He said they were "very pleased and very excited" with the award.

"I think it shows we have a really professional approach to selling across the world.

"We're 70 people here at Tracklements - I know all we work hard here," he added.

Another recipient has been aiming very high - upwards into the sky.

Clarendon Specialty Fasteners is based in Royal Wootton Bassett and make nuts and bolts that end up in aerospace, motorsport and defence.

The company has other sites around the world.

Paul Sanders is the managing director and was thrilled with the award: "It's a great testament to the people that work within the business, one of the proudest things we'll do as a business."

He explained that international trade has "always been a big part of our success", trying to ensure it is easy for customers order from across the globe.

Celebrations for the company would include an "obligatory high tea" at their sites.

Meanwhile, Leafield Environmental Limited in Corsham will be "shouting about it [the award] quite a lot in the next month".

The company specialised in bins, particularly for recycling.

Managing director Phil Maddox explained: "We won the award because our overseas sales have grown 63% over the past three years."
