Road to get speed bumps after other measures fail

Speed bumps are set to be introduced to a village road after other restrictions failed to work, a council has confirmed.

Durham City Council said concerns had been raised about the speed of vehicles on Low Moor Rood and Finings Avenue in Langley Park in County Durham.

A "give way" traffic feature introduced to the area several years ago in response to similar complaints had failed, it said.

The local authority has recommended the installation of five pairs of speed cushions to tackle "identified highway safety issues".

The council said it received three objections from residents including the suggestion the road was not dangerous. However, it said the speed bumps were necessary.

It is not clear when they will be put in place.
