A man has been arrested after allegedly driving at people, including children, who were attending a carnival.

Wiltshire Police said he was taken into custody on suspicion of public order offences and dangerous driving after the Trowbridge Carnival on Saturday.

The force said he had bypassed a road closure in Bythesea Road while trying to leave a car park and then driven at members of the public.

"When challenged, the man exited his car and began threatening people," police added.

While in custody the man was further arrested for driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without a license.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue, and police have urged any witnesses to get in touch.
