An e-bike rider has admitted causing the death of a cyclist in a crash in Leeds by careless driving.

Vincent Cullinane, 51, died 19 days after he was seriously injured in the collision on East Street near the city centre on 21 April 2022.

Amadou Diallo, 23, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and driving without a license or insurance when he appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Monday.

Judge Simon Phillips KC told the 23-year-old of of Meynell Approach, Holbeck, he would be sentenced on 10 March.

Mr Diallo's barrister Graham Parkin said his client had pleaded guilty "on the basis that he was not driving particularly quickly" and that he had not been using the Carrera e-bike's electric motor prior to the crash.

The vehicle was classed as a motorcycle due to the size of its battery and powerpack, he added.
