Further arrests after man injured during bike theft
Two more men have been arrested after a man was injured as he tried to stop a motorbike being stolen.
The victim, in his 20s, fell from the back of a moving white Peugeot Boxer van on the Promenade in Southport at about 20:25 BST last Friday, Merseyside Police said.
He suffered head and chest injuries and remains in a serious condition in hospital.
A 28-year-old man from Toxteth and a 38-year-old man from Wavertree have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit theft and are in custody for questioning.
The force said a car had also been seized and had been taken for forensic examination.
A 22-year-old man from Wavertree and a man, 19, from Liverpool city centre, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, have been bailed pending further inquiries.
A 32-year-old man from Halewood, Knowsley, who was held on suspicion of attempted murder and assisting an offender has also been bailed.
A 22-year-old man from Liverpool has been charged with conspiracy to steal and fraud by false representation.
He appeared at Wirral Adult Remand Court on Monday.
