GWR said the earlier disruption was due to a fault in Twyford, Berkshire

Train services have returned to "normal" between London Paddington and Reading after passengers were disrupted by an earlier signalling problem.

Great Western Railway (GWR) said the route was affected by the fault at Twyford, Berkshire.

The problem affected services to and from the West Country and South Wales.

Transport for London was also unable to run Elizabeth line trains between Maidenhead and Reading until the signalling issue was fixed.

Paul Gentleman, from GWR, previously said: "It hasn't been a great morning, the signal failure has severely impacted those trains and it is going to take us a little while to recover the service.

"We've obviously got trains in the wrong place, crew in the wrong place and we are advising customers to check before they travel."

He later added: "Apart from a couple of minor delays due to issues outside of the Thames Valley area, services have returned to normal."
