Pregnant women urged to take up flu and Covid jabs

Pregnant women have been encouraged to take up the offer of flu and Covid vaccines this winter.

The rollout of the seasonal jabs began in October, and and Manx Care has reminded expectant mothers they are eligible to receive them free of charge.

The healthcare provider said the viruses could lead to "serious illnesses" getting the jabs during pregnancy helped protect newborns until they could receive their own.

The season vaccination programmes are open to those over the age of 75, frontline healthcare workers, those who are immunosuppressed, as well as those who are pregnant.

Appointments, where both jabs will be available, can be made with the government's vaccination team.

The flu vaccines can also be administered at the island's 14 GP practices, and by local pharmacies across the island by appointment.
