Tribute to 'brilliant dad' killed in lorry crash

A man who died in a crash involving three vehicles was a "brilliant dad" and a "loving husband and soul mate", his family said.

Ian Burgess, 64, of Barford Road, Blunham, in Bedfordshire, was seriously injured in the crash which happened at about 16:50 BST on the A428 near Eltisley, Cambridgeshire, on Monday.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where he died the following day.

The lorry driver, a 53-year-old man from Doncaster, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In a statement released by police, Mr Burgess's family said he was a "loving husband and soul mate to Paula, brilliant dad to Lana, Jack and Rhona and amazing papa to Isla, Autumn, Oscar and May".

"We are a heartbroken, broken family to lose him, and our lives won't be as good without him," they said.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
