Charity scheme launched to remember father and son

A charity has launched a project in memory of an employee who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Jersey along with his young son.
Dean Lowe, 48, who worked at Jersey Employment Trust (JET) for more than 17 years, died when he and 11-year-old Charlie were hit by a vehicle in Rue de Fauvic, Grouville, on 5 August 2023. Dylan John Pounds was jailed for 15 years over the deaths.
JET says it has set up its JET Ambassadors in Mr Lowe's memory, to promote the St Saviour-based charity's work supporting islanders who have a disability or long-term health condition to secure employment.
JET said Mr Lowe had been described as the charity's "greatest ambassador" and staff still missed him every day.
JET executive officer Penny Shurmer said the charity had made "significant strides" to support disabled people for more than 20 years, and wanted to make sure the progress Mr Lowe had been passionate about continued.
Ms Shurmer said: "We will still be talking about Dean in 20 years' time and we miss him every day.
"Dean's legacy will be to create long-term change in the employment landscape of the future and shift perspectives to build truly diverse and inclusive workplaces."
