Man suffers burns after house 'explosion'
A man suffered burns following reports of an explosion at a house in Derbyshire, firefighters have said.
Crews from Ilkeston, Alfreton, and Eastwood in Nottinghamshire attended a property in Park Street, Heanor, after 15:46 GMT on Thursday.
Firefighters said the incident came through as an explosion and found the house to be "well alight" - which prompted a request for additional support from Ripley station.
They said the occupier of the home suffered some burns during the fire and Derbyshire Police is now investigating.
Crews said parked cars made the approach to the property "tricky" but firefighters wearing breathing apparatus made their way and [searched] the property to extinguish the fire.
A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "One male casualty was out of the property upon arrival of fire crews.
"Final fire crews left the scene at 20:30 once all hot spots had been extinguished and left the incident in the care of Derbyshire Police to maintain a cordon overnight.
"Firefighters from Heanor are expected to return to the scene this morning for reinspection."
