Swimming pool to remain closed due to tile repairs
One of the largest swimming pools in the Western Isles might not reopen until the end of the month following repairs to damaged tiles.
The problem was first spotted last Monday at sports centre Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais in Stornoway, Lewis.
Water has been drained to allow for repairs to loose tiles on the bottom and walls of the 25m pool.
Local authority Comhairle nan Eilean Siar said it could take until around 28 October before it was in a position to reopen.
Glue and grout used in the repairs need to set before the pool can be refilled.
The comhairle apologised for inconvenience the closure would cause during the October school holidays.
Smaller swimming pools in Lionel and Shawbost are to extend their opening hours to meet demand from affected customers.
