Warwick Castle closed to the public while an emergency services training exercise gets underway

Warwick Castle is playing host to a major training exercise for emergency services.

Police are advising people not to be alarmed if they see fire engines and ambulances at the site during Wednesday's event.

Warwick Castle posted on social media to say the exercise was part of its normal planning for major incidents.

The castle is closed to the public until 20 January for planned maintenance, and the training exercise is not expected to affect the town or surrounding area.

A spokesperson said: “This training will be carried out in collaboration with the local emergency services, so please do not be alarmed by fire engines, ambulances, or other modern-day knights in shining armour entering and exiting castle grounds throughout the day.

“This event is a crucial component of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of our staff and guests.”
