Hepworth sculpture temporarily relocated in Redruth
A Barbara Hepworth sculpture has been temporarily moved from St Ives to Redruth.
The cast bronze Dual Form had been sited outside the Guildhall but due to the hall's renewal works, the sculpture has been relocated to Kresen Kernow, Cornwall's archive and records centre.
Hepworth gifted the sculpture to St Ives in 1968 after she was awarded the Freedom of the Borough and she personally chose its position outside the Guildhall, St Ives Town Deal (SITD) said.
The town council said it used a specialist sculpture-moving team, Sculpture Transport UK for the relocation.
The Guildhall Renewal Project will create a level access entrance and a redesigned portico, SITD said.
Kresen Kernow, opened in 2019, is housed in the former Redruth Brewery, and has research areas and exhibition spaces.
It preserves more than 1.5m records spanning 850 years, celebrating Cornwall’s rich history.
