Plans for a major refurbishment of the Capitol Theatre in Horsham, West Sussex, are being put to the public.

Horsham District Council wants to improve the 90-year-old building's internal layout and seating capacity, while also making it more energy-efficient.

A public consultation into the plans will run until 30 September.

Cabinet member for leisure and culture David Skipp said the theatre's customers were "at the heart" of the initiative.

He said: “I am very excited by the proposals to improve the overall customer experience and environmental impacts at this much-loved venue.

“To help us gain a better understanding of what is important to you about The Capitol offer is really key.

“Your input will help us ensure that The Capitol continues to be a welcoming and vibrant space for everyone in our community.”

The theatre's last refurbishment took place in 2003.
