A man has been arrested following a police chase that led to a crash on the M4.

The single-vehicle collision shut the eastbound exit slip road at junction 17 for Chippenham, Wiltshire, at around 02:50 BST on Tuesday.

The car was being pursued by Avon and Somerset Police in connection with an ongoing aggravated burglary investigation in the Gwent force area. No one was injured, police have said.

The suspect was detained on suspicion of aggravated burglary, dangerous driving and possession of firearms, Gwent Police said.

He has been held in custody for questioning.
