A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a pedestrian was knocked down and fatally injured in North Lanarkshire last year.

William Henderson, 49, was seriously injured when he was struck by a Citroen C4 car on Greenfaulds Road in Cumbernauld at about 08:10 on Sunday 26 May.

He was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he later died.

The driver of the car has now been arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
