Witness appeal after man seriously injured on M1

A pedestrian has suffered "life-threatening" injuries after he was hit by a car on a motorway in West Yorkshire.
Emergency services were called to the northbound M1 close to junction 47 near Leeds at about 13:40 BST, West Yorkshire Police said.
It is thought the man, aged in his 60s, was a passenger in a Ford Ranger parked on the hard shoulder and was attempting to recover an item from the road.
He was taken to hospital after being hit by a Toyota RAV4, the force said, with any witnesses or those with video footage asked to come forward.
The northbound carriageway was closed between junction 46 at Garforth and junction 47 at the Parlington Interchange to allow for investigation work at the scene.
In an update at 20:10, National Highways said the route had fully reopened.
