Northamptonshire Police said it had made a number of arrests as part of its "month of action"

A police force said it had arrested four people of suspicion of fraud as part of a national operation.

Northamptonshire Police said a further four people had been voluntarily interviewed as part of fraud investigations during Operation Henhouse, with all eight now bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers conducted six warrants at addresses in the county where property was seized and at one address an illegal dog was seized.

Sgt Michael Rogers said fraud was "the most prevalent crime in the UK" and said the force was "committed to tackling those people involved".

He said: "There are many kinds of fraud, ranging from romance fraud, investment fraud and telephone-based frauds, and investigations are often complex as officers work to gather evidence to pursue charges.

"If you think you've uncovered a scam, been targeted by a scam or fallen victim to fraudsters, contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040."
