Victorian swing bridge closes due to damage
A Victorian swing bridge has been closed to traffic for up to a week due to damage to its deck.
An emergency closure has been put in place on Ramsey Swing Bridge, but will remain open to pedestrians, the Department of Infrastructure has said.
The closure would enable a "full assessment" can be made and repairs arranged after "some damage" was identified, the department added.
The structure, which was opened in 1892, was given protected status in March 2023.
The bridge allows vehicles and pedestrians access over the inner harbour to the swimming pool and North Promenade from the town centre.
