Murder arrest over man found injured in alleyway

A man has been arrested following the death of a man found by police in an alleyway on Thursday.

Sheldon Jameson, 42, died in hospital after he was found injured in the Hyde Park area of Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police said.

Officers said a 36-year-old man has been held on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A woman, 47, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but has been released on bail pending further investigation, the force added.

Mr Jameson was found between Apley Road and Whitburn Road at about 05:30 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later and his family have been informed.

A police spokesperson urged anyone with information to contact them.
