Sir Tom Jones to perform concert at castle

Sir Tom Jones has been announced as the final artist to perform in the grounds of a Norman castle.

The Welsh singer will be at Colchester's Castle Park on Monday, 18 August, as part of the summer series.

The Colchester Castle Summer Series is expected to be the one of the largest music events the city has seen in years.

"It's been six years since I last performed at Colchester Castle so I'm really looking forward to coming back," Sir Tom said.

The 84-year-old's career has spanned more than six decades, and he has sold more than six million records.

He added: "Spending a beautiful summer evening in such a wonderful and uniquely historic setting with an amazing crowd, it's going to be special."

A spokesperson for the event said it will be an "unforgettable summer evening".
