Two men found guilty of killing teenager

Two men are awaiting sentence after being convicted of killing a teenager.

Shwan Sabah, 24, of Holdich Street, Peterborough, was found guilty on Monday of murdering 19-year-old Ben Procter last September.

Ako Mohammed, 34, of Oundle Road, Peterborough, was found guilty of manslaughter.

Police said the two men "pursued and then drove at" Mr Procter after he was "caught breaking into a car compound" used by Mohammad in Wellington Street.

Both had entered not guilty pleas but were convicted by jurors following a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.

Judge Mark Bishop said he would hand down sentences at a later date.

After the trial, police said Mr Procter had been knocked off his bike at about 22.20 BST on Sunday 15 September.

A police spokeswoman said Mohammad did not call 999 until almost 90 minutes after it happened.

Police were called by paramedics when Mr Procter was found with a serious head injury. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of 16 September.

The spokeswoman added: "A post-mortem examination later revealed he had died from serious internal injuries consistent, with significant blunt force impact."

Det Chief Insp Rich Stott, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, added: "The jury's verdict today provides justice for Ben and his family."
