Excitement as Dave Day 2 date announced

The date of a second Dave Day event in memory of TV chef Dave Myers has been announced.

His wife Lili Myers and friend Jason Woodcock - known as Woody - confirmed it will return to Barrow in Cumbria over the weekend of 21 and 22 June.

Earlier this year, tens of thousands of bikers flocked to Dave Myers' hometown in a procession from London led by his fellow Hairy Biker Si King.

Myers died in February aged 66 following a diagnosis of cancer.

Dave Day 2 was announced at the Motorcycle Live event at the NEC near Birmingham, alongside news that a permanent tribute has been created in Barrow-in-Furness.

This year's inaugural event in June saw the biking community raise £127,000 for charity, with more than 20,000 bikers riding from London to Barrow.

Announcing the follow-up event, Lili Myers said it was "an exciting time" and while "the first one was brilliant, this one will be bigger and better".

She said: "Dave Day 2025 is happening. We want to make it fabulous, make it special and something every person will enjoy.

"I'm very happy to bring people into Barrow again, I know they would want that.

"We had a taste this year and it was amazing and I want more of that."

Artist Shawn Sharpe has painted a mural depicting Dave Myers in his trademark black biker leathers.

It sits on adverting hoardings at the side of Kings pub on Dalton Road in Barrow.

Speaking to BBC Radio Cumbria, Mr Sharpe said: "It wasn't me who came up with this idea, it was the public in Barrow.

"I was getting tagged on social media over and over again asking 'can we have a mural?'.

"My response was that it has to be the family who would like a mural and if they do then I'd be willing to do one.

"Then I spoke to Lily and it went from there."

The mural is based on a picture chosen from the family's personal collection by Myers' widow.
