Police have appealed for witnesses following a stabbing in Nottingham.

Officers said they were called to reports a man had been attacked in Old Farm Road, Top Valley, at about 18:30 BST.

The full extent of his injuries is not yet known but they are not believed to be life-threatening, Nottinghamshire Police said.

A cordon is in place and searches are being carried out in the area.

Det Insp Marc Lancaster said: "We are treating this incident very seriously and our work is ongoing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

"Officers remain in the area to provide reassurance and we are exploring a number of lines of enquiry.

"We are appealing for anyone who saw anything or has any footage relating to the incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
