A Jersey woman has said "it's amazing what your body is capable of" as she prepares to compete in her second marathon in a week.

Katie Cartwright completed the 26-mile (41.8km) Boston Marathon on Monday in three hours 45 minutes and 37 seconds and she will be participating in the London Marathon later.

She also plans to take part in other major marathons in Tokyo, Berlin, Chicago, New York and Sydney.

"It's really nice to set yourself a goal and work towards it," she said.

Ms Cartwright said she felt lucky to participate in so many marathons in a short space of time

Ms Cartwright said she had set herself a goal of beating her father's time in major marathons and felt lucky to compete in so many in a short space of time, as she is also due to complete the Berlin Marathon in September.

She said "lots of strength work" was the key to preparing for her second marathon in a week.

"Also, in between the times, eat and sleep a lot to get all of the energy back into your legs," she said.

"It's amazing what your body is capable of."

Ms Cartwright, who has previously competed in the London Marathon, said of the event: "The crowds are like nothing you will get anywhere else."
