Councillor Elena Round said she felt bullied

A cycling lobby group has been accused of bullying and intimidating a councillor over a planning application for a purpose-built cycling track.

Elena Round, a Green on Worcester City Council, said she felt "bullied" by Bike Worcester to back the creation of a pump track in Battenhall.

Speaking during a Place and Economic Development Committee hearing on Monday, she said: "I found myself at the receiving end of bullying and intimidation to vote a particular way."

Bike Worcester said it took the allegations "very seriously" and wanted to resolve any issues quickly.

Ms Round's comments come after the committee approved plans for a second pump track, in Perdiswell.

The project will cost £150,000.

Worcester City Council said the development would be a "destination" facility for the city and would feature two separate courses – one for experienced riders and one aimed at children under eight.
